OAG 92-72

April 24, 1992

Vic Hellard, Jr.

Director, Legislative Research Commission

State Capitol

Frankfort, Kentucky 40601

Dear Mr. Hellard:

In OAG 92-12, we said in response to your inquiry that if the legislature adjourns on April 15, 1992, then the effective date for ordinary legislation would be July 15, which is ninety days after April 15.

You have now asked the effective date of ordinary legislation for the 1992 regular session in light of the fact that the legislature adjourned on April 14 instead of April 15. Since the legislature adjourned one day earlier, the expiration of the ninety-day period would also occur one day earlier, making ordinary legislation effective on July 14, 1992.

Sincerely,

Chris Gorman

Attorney General
